Crystal Palace will welcome former manager Oliver Glasner back to Selhurst Park on Sunday when Nottingham Forest arrive for a meeting between two sides separated by only one point and two places in the Premier League table.
Glasner left the Eagles in the summer after a trophy-filled two-year spell that saw Palace win the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League. He has since taken charge at Forest, who sit 13th after collecting five points from their opening five league matches.
Forest head into the fixture seeking a response to their 1-0 defeat by Coventry City. Glasner believes his side’s defensive consistency and high shot volume offer encouragement, but says they must improve the quality and location of their attempts while creating more clear-cut opportunities. He also pointed to Forest’s strong away record in 2026 as something they will hope to demonstrate again in south London.
Palace ended the international-break build-up with a goalless draw at Leeds United, but their wider league form remains a concern. The Eagles have won only one of their last 12 Premier League games, drawing four and losing seven, while both of their home league matches this season have ended in defeat. A third consecutive home loss would equal a run previously recorded by the club in the 1997-98, 2004-05 and 2017-18 campaigns.
The match begins a demanding sequence for Palace, with Lyon due to visit after the Forest game before the trip to Brighton on October 18. Forest replaced Palace in last season’s Europa League after the Eagles were expelled because of a multi-club ownership rules breach involving John Textor’s interests in Palace and Lyon. Palace are now back in the competition.
Forest also hold the historical advantage in this fixture. Palace have never beaten them in 12 Premier League meetings, drawing eight and losing four, while Forest have suffered only one defeat in their last 17 league matches against the Eagles. Morgan Gibbs-White has contributed either a goal or an assist in each of Forest’s last eight Premier League away games, adding another threat for Palace to contain.
