Crystal Palace made the ideal return from the break by overcoming Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Sunday, giving Pierre Sage’s side a welcome lift after a difficult start to the season.
The Eagles fell behind in the third minute when Dan Ndoye capitalised on a serious mistake during Palace’s build-up. Walter Benitez then kept his team in the contest with an excellent save from Delap in the 34th minute, while Forest still held the advantage.
Palace levelled six minutes before half-time. Daichi Kamada finished after a quick exchange with Quinten Timber, and the comeback was completed before the interval when Jefferson Lerma headed home from a corner in stoppage time.
Yeremy Pino added the third in the 59th minute after a chaotic sequence inside the Forest defence, securing a 3-1 victory for the Eagles.
The result lifts Palace to 12th place. Everton remain fifth and Hull City ninth after the two sides drew 2-2 in the other match. Hull scored through Gelhardt and Belloumi, while Everton replied with goals from Deswbury-Hall and French forward Thierno Barry.
