Oliver Glasner has acknowledged the emotional pull of returning to Crystal Palace when Nottingham Forest visit on Sunday, saying he has “two hearts” as he prepares to face his former club.

Glasner left Palace at the end of last season before taking charge of Forest. He told Ben Fisher that his departure was not a decision made suddenly, explaining that he had decided the previous October not to sign a new contract. The move to Forest was then made during the summer for different reasons, despite not having been part of his original plans.

The fixture comes with relations between Palace and Forest already strained. Forest took Palace’s place in the Europa League last season after raising a complaint with UEFA over a breach of its multi-ownership rules.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his exit, Glasner stressed the importance of his time at Palace and said nothing could remove the memories created during his 15 years with the club. He will now lead Forest back to Selhurst Park for the first time since leaving.
