Crystal Palace will be without Jean-Philippe Mateta for their next three Premier League fixtures after the striker lost his appeal against the dismissal he received against Tottenham.
Mateta was initially booked by referee Michael Oliver for a late challenge on Micky van de Ven. Following a video assistant referee review, that decision was changed to a straight red card just 13 minutes into the match.
The suspension rules him out of Palace’s home meeting with Liverpool on 8 November, the trip to Coventry City on 21 November and the home fixture against Hull City on 29 November.
Mateta will, however, remain available for Palace’s Europa League games during the period. He can feature against Hoffenheim on 5 November and Real Sociedad on 26 November.
The absence comes during a difficult campaign for the forward, who has scored once in five appearances this season. That is a notable contrast to his record last term, when he managed 16 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions.
