Jean-Philippe Mateta will miss Crystal Palace’s next three Premier League games after his appeal against the red card received against Tottenham was unsuccessful.
The France international was initially shown a yellow card by referee Michael Oliver following a late challenge on Micky van de Ven. After a video assistant referee review, the decision was changed to a straight red just 13 minutes into the match.
Mateta’s suspension begins with Palace’s home fixture against Liverpool on 8 November. He will then be unavailable for the trip to Coventry City on 21 November and the home meeting with Hull City on 29 November.
The striker can still play in Palace’s Europa League matches during that period. He is eligible to face Hoffenheim on 5 November and Real Sociedad on 26 November.
Mateta has found goals harder to come by this season, scoring once in five appearances. That follows a 2024-25 campaign in which he scored 16 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions.
