Cheick Doucouré is in contention to return to the Crystal Palace squad for Saturday’s Premier League visit to Ipswich Town, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 BST.

The midfielder had been tipped to feature against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup after Palace’s victory at Fulham, but illness ruled him out of the 3-0 win. That delayed his return following a lengthy spell away from action.

Pierre Sage has now confirmed that Doucouré has resumed training. The Palace manager said the player trained on Wednesday and again on Thursday, although he noted that Doucouré had been feeling slightly unwell. His final involvement against Ipswich will depend on a further assessment of the squad after Friday’s session.

Sage explained that Palace must review the fatigue levels of players who have featured in both Saturday’s and Tuesday’s matches before confirming the available group. A definitive squad update is therefore expected after the next training session.

Ismaïla Sarr will not be ready to return for the trip to Ipswich. The forward is expected to begin first-team training next Monday, while Jean-Philippe Mateta remains unavailable.
