Pierre Sage has left his Crystal Palace future uncertain after the Eagles were beaten 5-0 by Brighton in a painful derby defeat.
Asked whether he expected to remain in charge, the French head coach indicated that the decision was not his to make and admitted he did not know what would happen. Sage added that he would continue to give his maximum, but his response did not rule out the prospect of leaving Selhurst Park.
The result has placed Sage under increased pressure, with supporters angry after Palace produced a performance well below the required standard. The scale of the loss has intensified questions over whether he will continue on the London club’s bench.
Sage also apologised directly to the Eagles’ fans, acknowledging that Palace had shown an unacceptable level during the defeat. He accepted that the team had not performed at the level expected of them.
The former RC Lens manager remains under contract with Crystal Palace until 2029, but this historic setback has nevertheless reopened serious questions about his position and his long-term future at the club.
