Crystal Palace could face Olympique Lyonnais without Loïs Openda in Thursday’s Europa League meeting, with the Belgian forward reportedly doubtful for the fixture.
Openda sustained an issue to his right leg during Lyon’s match against Lens on Friday following a collision with Lens defender Ismaëlo Ganiou. He was forced to leave the pitch while limping, before later being seen using crutches as the Lyon squad returned.
According to information cited from Le Progrès, Openda has undergone examinations and is not expected to be fit enough to feature against Palace. Lyon had not officially provided the exact nature of his injury at the time of the report.
The potential absence could be significant for Lyon head coach Paulo Fonseca, with Openda also possibly missing the club’s next match against Nice. For Palace, the forward’s expected unavailability would remove a major attacking option from their Europa League opponents.
