Oliver Glasner will return to Selhurst Park on Sunday when Crystal Palace host Nottingham Forest, having moved to the City Ground this summer after managing the Eagles. The Austrian did not win any of his five matches against Forest during his time in charge of Palace.
Palace’s difficult record in this fixture began before Glasner’s appointment. They have failed to win any of their 12 Premier League meetings with Forest, making it the most matches they have played against an opponent in the competition without victory. It is also Forest’s longest unbeaten run against a single Premier League side.
Glasner remains a hugely significant figure in Palace’s recent history. He led the club to the FA Cup in 2025 and the Conference League a year later, giving Palace their first two major honours. Club owner Steve Parish has called on supporters to give him a warm reception and set aside the surrounding “pantomime narratives” when he returns.
His successor, Pierre Sage, secured his first Premier League clean sheet in the goalless draw with Leeds United last time out. However, both of Sage’s top-flight home matches have ended in defeat, while he has already used 27 different players in the league after five matches — a joint-high figure in the division. Palace will need greater continuity if they are to move up the table.
Forest’s results have been stronger away from home. They were among four Premier League clubs, including Palace, to collect more points on the road than at home last season. This term, they have failed to score in each of their four league and cup matches at the City Ground, but have drawn 2-2 at Liverpool and won 2-1 at Aston Villa.
Morgan Gibbs-White has been central to Forest’s away attacking run. The midfielder has either scored or assisted in eight successive Premier League away matches, putting him one game short of the record jointly held by Andy Cole, Robin van Persie and Erling Haaland. He played 45 minutes across four substitute appearances for England during the international break before returning to club duty.
