Wayne Rooney has criticised the VAR decision that allowed Crystal Palace’s controversial second goal in their 3-1 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Rooney said the video review reached the wrong conclusion when Palace were awarded the goal.
The decision put the home side ahead against Forest, with Palace going on to complete a 3-1 win. Rooney’s comments have placed the focus on the role of VAR in a key moment from the match.
The former England forward went as far as questioning whether VAR should continue to be used, arguing that it may be time to “call it a day” with the system.
