Tyrick Mitchell has reflected on the journey that took him from his Crystal Palace debut to 250 senior appearances for the club, a milestone he marked with a clean sheet just over a month ago.

The 27-year-old first appeared for Palace in July 2020, coming off the bench away at Leicester City during the COVID-19 lockdown. His progress since then has been remarkable, with Mitchell becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to reach 100, 150 and 200 Premier League appearances.

Looking back through photographs for a Palace TV feature, Mitchell discussed the challenges that helped shape him. Regularly facing Wilf in training provided a particularly demanding education, with the full-back explaining that competing against one of the Premier League’s finest one-on-one attackers prepared him for the wingers he would encounter in matches.

Mitchell also recalled the nerves surrounding his first-team debut and the difficulty of his first start, which came against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux later that month. Adama Traoré presented a formidable test on the flank, giving the young defender an early indication of the level required in the Premier League.

The feature also revisits Mitchell’s experiences at Wembley, where he lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield with Palace, as well as his European success in Leipzig in May. He discussed scoring in the 4-0 victory over Manchester United at Selhurst Park in May 2024 and the 2-1 win against West Ham in September 2025, along with the emotions attached to his goals.

For Mitchell, however, the defining moment remains Palace’s FA Cup triumph over Manchester City. He described that first trophy as the pinnacle of his career, while reaching 250 appearances represented another significant achievement after progressing from the Under-18s. The defender also expressed his gratitude for being fit enough to contribute to Palace’s history and hopes to add many more appearances in the future.
