Crystal Palace began preparations for the 2025/26 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Millwall in a behind-closed-doors fixture at the Crystal Palace Academy. The match also saw the FA Cup holders wear their new home kit for the first time.
Oliver Glasner fielded a different team in each half, with players returning late from international duty not involved. New arrivals Walter BenÃtez and Borna Sosa both started, with BenÃtez making his first appearance for the club in goal.
Chances were limited during a quiet opening 45 minutes. Millwall’s Macaulay Langstaff lifted an effort over the bar after capitalising on an error from Tyrick Mitchell, while BenÃtez later produced a smart save to keep out a testing De Norre strike.
Palace made the breakthrough shortly after the interval. Odsonne Édouard supplied Jesurun Rak-Sakyi during a quick counter-attack, and the forward finished from close range. George King went close with a header from a corner, while Tayo Adaramola also missed an opportunity after Palace won possession high up the pitch.
The result gives the Eagles a positive start to pre-season, with Crawley Town next on the schedule on Friday, 25th July at 19:30 BST. Palace TV+ subscribers can watch the club’s full pre-season coverage via the live stream, while a 2025/26 pre-season bundle is also available for £17.99.
