Crystal Palace Academy prospect Nat Kalembo is celebrating his 16th birthday after a remarkable rise through the club’s age groups and into senior-team involvement over the past two months.

The versatile defender can operate anywhere across the backline and has impressed with his calmness in possession, passing ability and understanding of the game. He made his competitive Under-18s debut as a substitute in a 6-3 win at Ipswich Town in April 2026 before earning a starting role on the right side of a back three for the opening-day victory over West Ham United.

An injury temporarily halted his progress, but Kalembo returned to make five Under-18 appearances this season. In September, he moved up to Darren Powell’s Under-21 squad and quickly adapted to the higher level, featuring for the final 18 minutes of the EFL Trophy win against League One side Swindon Town before also appearing against Blackburn Rovers and Plymouth Argyle.

His progress soon brought a first-team opportunity at Selhurst Park. While still 15, Kalembo was included in the senior squad for a mid-season friendly against Bristol City during the September-October international break.

He has continued to make the most of his opportunities with the Under-21s. After playing the full match at right-wing back against Belgian club RSC Anderlecht in the Premier League International Cup, he scored a spectacular long-range goal in a 4-1 Premier League Two win over Leeds United at Thorp Arch. Kalembo then kept his place and completed another 90 minutes against Southampton.

The defender’s rapid progression highlights the pathway available within Palace’s Academy, with Kalembo continuing to step up confidently whenever he has been given a new challenge.
