Crystal Palace moved up to 12th in the Premier League after recovering from a losing position to defeat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Sunday. Daichi Kamada, Jefferson Lerma and Yéremy Pino were on target for the Eagles.

The result took Palace to nine league goals from their first six matches, a tally they did not reach until their seventh game last season. It was also the first time since the 3-2 victory over Fulham on 5 September that Palace had scored three goals in a Premier League fixture.

Forest produced eight big chances during the match. Opta records that the last Premier League team to create as many and still lose had done so in February 2012. Palace’s ability to respond from behind has also been a feature of their campaign, with the Eagles now having collected six points from losing positions—the joint-highest total achieved by any team in the division.

Kamada’s equaliser was his first Premier League goal for Palace, arriving in his 68th appearance in the competition. Adam Wharton supplied his first league assist of the season, while Kamada became only the second Asian player to score for the club in the Premier League after Lee Chung-yong’s goal against Stoke City in December 2015.

Pino’s finish was his third Premier League goal for Palace and his first at Selhurst Park, following away goals against Wolves and Sunderland last season. Lerma also opened his account for the current campaign, scoring for the first time since finding the net against Chelsea on 12 February 2024—a gap of 973 days.

The victory finally ended Palace’s wait for a Premier League win over Forest at the 13th attempt. Before Sunday, Forest were the opponent Palace had faced most often without winning in the competition, with eight draws and four defeats.
