Crystal Palace have two goalkeepers on the shortlist for the Premier League’s October Coca-Cola Save of the Month award, with Walter Benítez and Dean Henderson both recognised for outstanding saves.
Benítez’s nomination comes from Palace’s 3-1 victory during October. After Morgan Gibbs-White struck the underside of the crossbar, the Argentine goalkeeper recovered quickly to deny Liam Delap from close range with a powerful stop. The intervention came at an important moment as the opposition threatened to gain further momentum.
Henderson’s nomination is for his display in Palace’s 2-0 defeat at Tottenham. In the 81st minute, the Palace captain reacted sharply to keep out a header or effort from former Eagle Conor Gallagher, diving to his right to make the save.
The recognition is Henderson’s second consecutive monthly nomination, following his inclusion on the September shortlist for his stop against Fulham. He and Benítez are among six goalkeepers competing for October’s award, alongside Mike Penders, Zion Suzuki, Bart Verbruggen and Christian Walton.
Supporters can vote for either Palace goalkeeper, with voting scheduled to close at 12:00 BST on Monday, 9 November.
