Crystal Palace’s Academy scholars have celebrated their GCSE results after combining their studies with the demands of an intensive football programme. One in three achieved at least one grade between 7 and 9, while the same proportion secured multiple grades at 8 or 9.
Several players produced particularly strong individual performances. Sebastian Bonsu-Amako and Hugo Bull both recorded a selection of grades 9 and 8, while Lucca Benetton achieved 9s, 8s and 7s. Dylan Monk also gained top grades in Maths, Business, Geography and PE.
Bonsu-Amako, Bull, Benetton and Monk will now continue on Palace’s A-Level programme. Their subjects will include Business, Economics, Spanish, History and Psychology, alongside their football apprenticeships.
The Academy said the scholars have managed their education while dealing with training, matches, travel and the physical and mental demands of player development. Their academic work has also been supported through the club’s Hybrid Training Model.
Head of Academy Education Andy Griffiths said the results demonstrated the scholars’ commitment and underlined the importance of education within the Academy. He added that Palace aims to prepare its young players not only for potential careers in football, but also for life beyond the sport.
Palace congratulated all of the newly signed scholars who completed their GCSEs: Kwasi Baah, Anthony Barrett, Lucca Benetton, Sebastian Bonsu-Amako, Hugo Bull, Jamar Lee, Alfie Mulvenna, Jay Emmanuel Jordan, Dylan Monk, Kayden Moses, Malik Tejan and Toby Williams. The club also thanked its Academy staff and education partner, Oasis Academy, whose teaching staff provide the GCSE programme through the Hybrid Training Model.
