Crystal Palace produced a memorable result at Old Trafford on 30 September 2023, securing three points in typically wet Manchester conditions.
The Eagles arrived with an injury crisis and had been comfortably beaten by Manchester United in the League Cup just four days earlier. Erik ten Hag’s side were therefore widely expected to come through the Premier League meeting with little trouble.
Palace were without Dean Henderson, Michael Olise, Odsonne Edouard and Jefferson Lerma among others. Their substitutes included academy graduates David Ozoh, Jes Rak-Sakyi and Ademola Ola-Adebomi.
Heavy rain was falling from the outset, with both sides involved in a tense contest before Joachim Andersen provided the decisive moment. A corner dropped into the penalty area, and the defender struck with his right foot, hooking the ball towards goal and beating Andre Onana for pace.
The Eagles then had to withstand pressure after the interval, but held firm to take a valuable three points back to South London.
