Eddie Nketiah admitted Crystal Palace were disappointed to settle for a draw against TSG Hoffenheim, despite producing a late equaliser while down to 10 men at Selhurst Park.

Palace had already created several opportunities by the time Nketiah entered the match in the 55th minute, but they were behind following an early Alexander Press effort. The forward felt the game became difficult and disjointed, particularly after the dismissal.

Nketiah believed the red card was harsh, but praised Palace’s response. He said the team continued to compete and eventually received its reward with the late leveller.

The striker looked to stretch Hoffenheim’s defence with runs in behind and provide an outlet when Palace were under pressure. He was pleased with some of his contribution after coming on, while acknowledging that he and the team still have more to offer.

Palace briefly appeared capable of completing the comeback after regaining momentum, but Nketiah said they were unable to find a second goal. He added that the players want to repay the support from the Selhurst Park crowd whenever they represent the club.

Nketiah also stressed Palace’s ambition to progress as far as possible in every competition. Attention now turns to Sunday, with the forward insisting the squad will work hard to improve before the next Europa League fixture and pursue three points.
