Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has described Crystal Palace as a “really strong side” ahead of Sunday’s Premier League meeting at Elland Road, with kick-off scheduled for 14:00 BST.
Farke spoke highly of Palace’s recent achievements, highlighting their success in winning titles over the past few seasons. He also believes the Eagles have improved during the summer, saying their recruitment has left them stronger than they were last term.
The Leeds manager also pointed to his own team’s form since last season, arguing that their performances are now more than a temporary run of results. However, despite outside discussion about a possible European challenge, Farke said Leeds’ immediate priority remains reaching 40 points and securing another Premier League campaign.
Leeds will welcome midfielder Ilian Gruev back into contention after he played almost 90 minutes for the under-21 side following a lengthy knee injury absence. Harry Wilson has suffered a quad injury and is expected to miss Wales’ upcoming international fixtures, while Joe Rodon remains unavailable.
Farke said the extended break after the weekend will give his squad additional time to recover and allow more attention to be devoted to training details and younger players. Palace’s visit will therefore be the latest test of a Leeds side whose manager believes their recent level is now underpinned by genuine quality.
