Fabian Hurzeler has stressed Brighton's determination to beat Crystal Palace in Sunday's Premier League meeting at the Amex Stadium, admitting he is yet to enjoy a victory in the rivalry.
The Brighton boss said Pascal Struijk will be assessed on Saturday before a decision is made on his availability. No other currently sidelined players are expected to return in time for the Palace fixture, although Mats Wieffer and Yankuba Minteh are nearing a comeback. Hurzeler indicated that Kaoru Mitoma will require more time.
Hurzeler said he understands the significance of the derby to Brighton's supporters and the club, with the home side aiming to give them a win. However, he insisted that Brighton's approach must be built around producing a strong performance rather than concentrating solely on the result.
The manager also highlighted the contribution of Brighton's squad after several players found the net this season. He credited their willingness to improve, their movement in and around the penalty area and the way they make runs for one another.
Hurzeler praised the atmosphere created by Brighton's home support during the recent match against Kauno Zalgiris and thanked the fans who helped generate it. Sunday’s derby at the Amex Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 14:00 BST, with live commentary available on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds.
