Fuka Tsunoda has been voted Crystal Palace’s Temporal Player of the Month for October after making a strong impression during her early months in South London.
The midfielder joined Palace on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in August and has quickly established herself in Jo Potter’s team. Tsunoda started all but one of Palace’s matches during October, underlining her importance to the side.
She delivered an impressive display in the 1-1 draw away to Aston Villa, combining accurate passing with several important defensive contributions. Tsunoda then completed the full match against West Ham on 18 October before setting up Molly Bartrip during the following week’s fixture against Chelsea.
Her month concluded with another full appearance against London City Lionesses in the Subway Players Cup, where she produced a further composed performance in midfield.
Tsunoda received 28.2 per cent of the vote to take the award, narrowly finishing ahead of Annabel Blanchard on 27.5 per cent. Aimee Everett and Abbie Larkin shared third place, with both players collecting 16.9 per cent. On receiving the honour, Tsunoda said it was unexpected but would become “my life’s treasure.”
