Crystal Palace were beaten 5-0 by Brighton in the Premier League, according to the latest match update from the Guardian Football live blog.
The result lifted Brighton into second place, moving them above Arsenal in the table. Brighton’s goal difference was reported as plus 18 after the emphatic victory.
The Palace result came as Nottingham Forest prepared to face Arsenal at the City Ground, with kick-off scheduled for 4.30pm BST. Arsenal’s position could therefore be affected by the outcome of that match.
For Palace, the immediate headline is the scale of the defeat, with Brighton scoring five times in a result that significantly strengthened their league position.
