Pierre Sage is under growing pressure at Crystal Palace after a difficult start to his time in charge, but the French coach insists he is ready to confront the challenge. The Eagles are currently 17th in the Premier League, with just two wins and one draw from their league campaign so far.

Palace’s European form has also been underwhelming. With one victory and one draw in the Europa League, the club sits 15th in the competition. Those results have inevitably raised questions over Sage’s position at the London club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, however, Sage presented the situation as an opportunity to improve rather than a reason to give up. He acknowledged that results must improve and said he needed to identify fresh solutions so Palace can become the team they are capable of being.

The manager also accepted that he must take responsibility for making the right decisions at the right moments, adding that his players need his leadership during this difficult spell. He described the period as a potentially positive opportunity for his own development.

Palace’s main boost has come in the domestic cup, where they secured a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals after defeating Fulham this week. Their next cup fixture is scheduled against Sunderland on 15 December, but Sage knows that a return to consistent league victories will be crucial to easing the pressure around his position and moving the Eagles away from the relegation zone.
