Crystal Palace supporters have expressed concern after Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League defeat by Tottenham, with the team’s defensive weaknesses and lack of attacking options among the main talking points.
One fan described Palace as being in trouble, criticised Ismaïla Sarr’s contribution and said Jean-Philippe Mateta’s three-match break would add to the team’s problems. The same supporter also sympathised with Pierre Sage, arguing that the manager has not had his full squad available, while questioning whether he can change the club’s current direction.
Sage received some support from another contributor, who called for more time to be given to the coach. They pointed to the lack of a settled defence, midfield and attack, saying Palace have looked poor in some spells but bright and exciting in others.
Defensive organisation was another major concern. One supporter argued that Palace cannot rely on scoring more than their opponents every week, while another blamed both recruitment and the current group of players for the team’s struggles. Zonal marking and technical coaching were also singled out for criticism.
There was also concern about Palace’s attacking options ahead of the meeting with Liverpool, with one fan pointing to injuries and suspensions affecting the forward line. The overall mood among the Palace-focused responses was one of frustration, although some supporters still believe patience with Sage could bring improvement.
