Crystal Palace supporters offered contrasting reactions after their 2-0 Premier League defeat at Tottenham on Saturday, with several pointing to problems at both ends of the pitch.

One view was that the red card had effectively decided the contest, while Palace’s defensive display was described as insufficient. Concerns were also raised about zonal marking, recruitment and technical coaching, with one supporter fearing the side could struggle in its next match because players in the forward line are injured or suspended.

Palace’s attack came in for criticism, too. Jean-Philippe Mateta was singled out by one respondent, who felt the forward had brought a three-match absence upon himself, while Ismaïla Sarr was described as having made little impact. Another supporter argued that Palace cannot rely on scoring more goals than their opponents in every game.

There was some sympathy for manager Pierre Sage, with fans noting that he has not been able to select a settled defence, midfield or attack. One supporter called for more time and patience, saying the team has shown both poor and exciting spells, while another praised the team’s attitude, effort and teamwork as signs of progress.

The responses also included a more positive assessment of Palace’s overall direction, with one fan saying the side is beginning to look more like a team. However, the dominant concerns after the Tottenham defeat centred on defensive reliability, discipline and the need for greater attacking threat.
