Crystal Palace supporter and content creator Ollie Thomas believes the club made an important start to a demanding run of four matches by defeating Nottingham Forest 3-1.

Thomas told BBC Sport that Palace had benefited from some fortune during the game, having allowed Forest a significant number of chances. However, he was pleased that the team responded by scoring three times and securing a result he had not expected before the fixture.

The victory gives Palace confidence and breathing room before their meeting with Brighton, which Thomas considers a difficult contest in which Palace will be underdogs. He also pointed to the value of taking four points from the away game at Leeds and the home win against Forest.

Palace's next challenge is a Thursday evening match against Lyon. Thomas described the fixture as a significant occasion, reflecting on Lyon's status as a Champions League-level team during his younger years. He also said the Forest result was beneficial for Pierre Sage and the team's public image, while noting the significance of defeating Oliver Glasner.

Despite the positive result and the excitement surrounding Palace's football, Thomas said the defence remains a serious problem. He admitted he was unsure what the solution should be and backed Jaydee Canvot to operate as the left centre-back, describing him as Palace's best defender and one of the club's most valuable assets.
