Amaari Sealey’s first few months at Crystal Palace have brought a competitive debut, important contributions for the Under-21s and a first taste of senior football. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joined from AFC Wimbledon during the summer after helping their Under-18s enjoy an exceptional campaign.
A suspension carried over from his time at Wimbledon delayed Sealey’s Premier League 2 debut, but he eventually entered the action against Paris Saint-Germain in the Premier League International Cup. Palace went on to secure a 2-1 victory, providing a memorable introduction to Academy football at his new club.
Sealey soon made his first start against Swindon Town in the EFL Trophy, assisting Seb Williams after combining with Euan Danaher from a short corner. He also completed the full match against Plymouth Argyle and played a part in the build-up to Donte Martin’s goal, underlining his growing influence within Darren Powell’s Under-21 side.
The move has represented a step up for the Kidbrooke-born youngster, who had previously spent time in West Ham’s Academy and grassroots football. He has credited Palace’s welcoming environment and the quality around him with helping him settle, while pre-season work with the Under-21s, including a trip to Rotterdam, helped strengthen his relationships with his teammates.
Sealey’s progress earned him a place in first-team training last week. He was then named among the substitutes for Palace’s mid-season friendly against Bristol City and came on late alongside fellow Academy player Adler Nascimento. The appearance marked the latest milestone in his early Palace journey, giving him an opportunity to experience the pace and physical demands of senior football.
The midfielder has now set his sights on continuing that progress with the Young Eagles. Having already helped Palace record notable results and contributed to goals, Sealey believes the group can challenge for honours as their development continues.
