Quinten Timber has praised Crystal Palace’s character after they fought back with ten players against Ipswich, only to suffer a painful 3-2 defeat at Selhurst Park.

The midfielder made his first Premier League appearance at the stadium and delivered an energetic performance in the centre of the pitch. Palace started positively and took the lead, but the game changed after they were reduced to ten men and Ipswich restored parity.

Ipswich then moved in front before half-time, leaving Palace with a difficult task. Timber said the team had initially focused on reaching the interval level, but the visitors’ goal made the challenge even tougher.

Palace responded strongly after the break, creating opportunities despite their numerical disadvantage. Timber felt the second-half performance demonstrated the team’s resilience, although he admitted he was disappointed not to convert one of his own chances and help secure a result.

The decisive moment arrived late, when Zian Flemming scored for Ipswich to make it 3-2. Timber believes Palace can be proud of the way they competed, but the midfielder acknowledged that the effort was difficult to accept because it brought no points.

He added that Palace must now turn their attention to the next match and continue working after a defeat that contained both encouraging signs and considerable frustration.
