Rio Cardines continued his impressive spell with Bristol City by providing an assist for the fifth consecutive match, although his side suffered their first away defeat of the Championship season at Southampton.
The 20-year-old’s effort from outside the box was turned into a cross and found Zeki Amdouni, who directed the ball into the bottom corner during the second half. Cardines was substituted after 77 minutes, with Cameron Pring taking his place. Bristol City return to action at home to Lincoln City on Tuesday evening.
Hindolo Mustapha made his third start in four games for Notts County, taking his total to six starts since joining the League One club on loan in August. He came close to scoring against Bradford City when an attempt was cleared off the line, but County were beaten 1-0. Their next fixture is away to Reading on Saturday.
Romain Esse also started twice during the week for Millwall, featuring in their Carabao Cup defeat by Newcastle United and their Championship loss at Blackburn Rovers. He played 61 minutes against Newcastle before starting the Blackburn match, where he was withdrawn at half-time. Esse was active during the opening period, with shots and crosses blocked, and also went close to breaking through on goal. He has now started all four matches since returning to Millwall on loan.
Borna Sosa remained an unused substitute as FC Köln drew 1-1 with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, while Owen Goodman and Dundee were not in action over the weekend.
