Crystal Palace Women have announced the five nominees for their Temporal Player of the Month award for September, following a promising opening period in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Jo Potter’s side have collected five points from four league matches and won both of their Subway Players Cup fixtures.
Chloé N’Gazi Peyraud-Magnin is shortlisted after starting every WSL game so far and recording two clean sheets. The France international goalkeeper kept Everton out in Palace’s opening-day win before producing eight saves in a goalless draw at former club Arsenal.
Abbie-Leigh Hopcroft has also been recognised after a productive month. She scored in the Subway Players Cup and helped force an own goal during the 3-3 draw with Birmingham City. Her performances were followed by a first call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad in late September, while she has also been among Palace’s most heavily involved players in terms of minutes.
Lexi Lloyd-Smith made an immediate impact after scoring the only goal on her debut against Everton. She found the net again against Birmingham, putting Palace ahead after winning possession from a defender. The new number seven has featured as both a winger and a striker across her four league appearances.
Captain Allyson Everett completes the midfield and defensive contenders after leading Palace to victory and a clean sheet against Everton, before another strong display at centre-back against Arsenal. The 25-year-old is building on her Team of the Season inclusion from last year.
Rounding off the shortlist is Indiah-Paige Riley Goldie, who has impressed since joining on loan from London City Lionesses in July. Primarily used at left-back, Goldie played an important role in Palace’s successive WSL clean sheets. She will also join Lloyd-Smith with England Under-23s for the upcoming fixture against Norway. Supporters can now cast their vote for the September award.
