Crystal Palace Women suffered a 4-2 defeat against London City Lionesses at the CopperJax Community Stadium in Bromley, with the hosts securing victory in a six-goal Subway Players Cup contest.

Palace started brightly and controlled much of the opening 45 minutes, but found themselves behind when Isobel Goodwin met a cross from the left with a header. London City had threatened earlier when Kafaji struck the crossbar from outside the box, while Palace also saw a possible handball against goalkeeper Earps outside her area waved away.

Goodwin added two more goals after the interval to complete her hat-trick and put the hosts firmly in control. Palace responded when substitute Annabel Blanchard followed up after Earps spilled a shot, but Freya Godfrey restored London City's three-goal advantage almost immediately.

Palace continued to battle and reduced the deficit again late on. The ball bounced up inside the area, allowing O'Brien to guide a header beyond Earps and into the net, but the Eagles could not find a third goal before the final whistle.

Everett was replaced by Bartrip at half-time. Palace's starting line-up was Yañez, Napier, Enge, Everett, Sharpe, Howat, Weerden, Nolan, Hopcroft, Tsunoda and O'Brien. The result ended the evening with London City 4, Crystal Palace Women 2.
