Crystal Palace Women have added Puerto Rico international defender Caitlin Cosme to their squad ahead of their return to the Women’s Super League. The 27-year-old has signed a contract that runs until 2027, with the move awaiting international clearance.
Cosme was born in New York and played college football for Duke University from 2017 to 2021. During her first season, she helped the Blue Devils win the Atlantic Coast Conference.
She entered the professional game after being selected by Orlando Pride in the first round of the 2022 NWSL Draft. Cosme made six appearances in all competitions for the Florida club before moving to Iceland, where she joined UMF Stjarnan in April 2024. She recorded 12 appearances and three goals during her time there.
In July 2024, the defender moved to France with FC Nantes. Across two seasons in the Première Ligue, she helped the club finish seventh in 2024/25 before contributing to a fourth-place finish in 2025/26.
Cosme represented the United States through Under-15 level before making her senior debut for Puerto Rico in May 2025. Palace manager Jo Potter believes the new arrival will add experience and quality to the team’s defence in the WSL.
The new signing said she had received a warm welcome and was looking forward to becoming part of the club and its surrounding community. Palace Women could give Cosme her first opportunity to play for the club when they face Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
