Crystal Palace supporter Ollie Thomas has called for a change in formation after the Eagles suffered a heavy defeat by Brighton on Sunday.
Thomas believes defensive concerns should be the club’s immediate priority, warning that Palace could find themselves involved in a relegation battle unless those problems are resolved.
His preferred solution would be to move away from a back-three system and add another player to midfield. He feels that would provide greater protection and help Palace deal with the pressure they are currently facing.
Thomas also questioned the quality and readiness of Palace’s back five, while arguing that the club’s summer recruitment had not been good enough. In his view, the defensive structure is leaving the team too exposed and placing their weakest area under repeated pressure.
The key question for Palace is whether the formation is the central problem or whether wider changes are needed to improve their fortunes this season.
