Crystal Palace will be aiming to build on their 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest when Newcastle United visit Selhurst Park today, with kick-off scheduled for 14:00 GMT. A win would give Palace consecutive home Premier League victories for the first time since April 2025, when they recorded three in a row.
Palace also have the chance to claim successive league wins over Newcastle for the first time since a three-match run between August 1971 and September 1972. The Eagles won the most recent meeting 2-1 in April, while Newcastle have won only once in their last 11 league visits to Selhurst Park, recording six draws and four defeats across that sequence.
The recent away form of Eddie Howe’s side adds another angle to the contest. Newcastle have suffered 4-1 defeats in their last two Premier League away matches, against Leeds and Coventry. They have only endured a longer run of away losses by three or more goals once in the competition, when they suffered four such defeats between January and March 2008.
Newcastle’s last sequence of three consecutive away matches in which they conceded at least four goals came much earlier, in September 1929. Palace will therefore be looking to take advantage of a difficult period on the road for their visitors while extending their own positive home momentum.
The match could also bring a personal landmark for Chris Richards. The Palace defender is in line to make his 100th Premier League appearance, which would make him the 14th United States player to reach that total. The pre-match figures list Richards as 26 years and 211 days old on the day of the game, compared with Jonathan Spector’s age of 23 years and 359 days when he reached the milestone.
Newcastle forward Yoane Wissa has scored once from 18 Premier League shots this season, giving him a 5.6 per cent conversion rate. Among players who have scored at least once, only two have a lower figure.
