Crystal Palace supporters have delivered a mixed verdict on the Eagles’ opening to the 2026-27 season, with one fan rating it seven out of 10. The adjustment to Pierre Sage’s management, late World Cup returns and the arrival of new players were all cited as reasons why the team may need time to settle.
Sage has nevertheless received backing for promoting an attacking style and being open about his team selections. Defensive consistency remains a concern, with one supporter arguing that Palace’s European success had concealed weaknesses that emerged during the latter part of last season.
Another fan expressed greater anxiety over the club’s league position and results. Palace won only five home matches last season and have taken victory in just two of their past 12 games, according to the supporter, who also questioned whether the current squad can cope with competing on four fronts.
There were more encouraging assessments of Sage’s work from elsewhere. One supporter said the team’s patterns were becoming clearer and that the defence was showing signs of improvement, while comparing the manager’s profile with Oliver Glasner’s. Another highlighted the challenges created by the sale of key defenders and uncertainty around attackers, but felt Sage was building a deeper and more exciting squad.
The extended three-week break gives Sage time to address those issues. Palace fans expect further obstacles, but the overall mood remains a combination of frustration, optimism and pride in the club’s progress, even if another trophy does not arrive this season.
