Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage has confirmed that Ben Chilwell is available again for Thursday’s Europa League meeting with Besiktas at Tupras Stadyumu, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 BST.
The left-back has missed the past five matches because of injury but has now returned to the matchday group. Midfielder Quinten Timber, however, has been ruled out of the fixture.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson has resumed training after returning on Monday, but Sage confirmed he will not travel with the squad for the match in Turkey. Takehiro Tomiyasu is also unavailable and is expected to remain out until the next international break after suffering another injury.
Experienced defender Tyrick Mitchell called on Palace to return to the fundamentals of their game, including showing greater aggression. His comments came after the side’s heavy 5-0 defeat by Brighton.
Sage acknowledged the need for a quick response to that result, describing it as a difficult defeat and saying Palace must move on swiftly to show their true character in a challenging atmosphere. He also stressed the importance of becoming more consistent, explaining that solving one issue can sometimes lead to another being created.
