Crystal Palace’s loanees enjoyed a weekend featuring a senior debut, a first goal and a new development opportunity for goalkeeper Thiago Speroni.

Borna Sosa made his first start for 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga and played his part in a 2-1 Rhine derby win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Croatian left-back was involved in Köln’s opening goal after his free-kick was only partially cleared, allowing Ísak Jóhannesson to strike a spectacular volley into the top corner.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi also found the net for the first time since moving to Turkey with Kasımpaşa. The winger came on shortly before the hour mark against Galatasaray and converted after Thiemoko Diarra’s deflected effort fell his way. Rak-Sakyi controlled the ball and finished into the roof of the net, although Kasımpaşa were beaten 3-1.

The Palace forward has now appeared in three of the four matches for which he has been eligible since arriving on loan. Kasımpaşa sit ninth in the Trendyol Süper Lig after seven matches.

There has also been a fresh step in the development of Under-18s goalkeeper Thiago Speroni, who has joined National League South club Dagenham & Redbridge on loan until January. The son of Palace legend Julian Speroni has been named among Dagenham’s substitutes in each of his three matches since arriving, including their FA Cup third qualifying round tie against Brentwood Town.
