Crystal Palace have been drawn against Sunderland in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, with the tie set to take place at Selhurst Park during the week commencing 14 December.
The Eagles have reached the last eight for a club-record third consecutive season. They were eliminated at this stage by Arsenal in each of the previous two campaigns, but will now aim to progress to the semi-finals for only the fourth time in the club’s history and for the first time since 2011/12.
Palace secured their place in the quarter-finals with a victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening. Eddie Nketiah scored the decisive goal to send the Eagles through.
Should the contest with Sunderland remain level after 90 minutes, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout. Extra time is only introduced in the competition from the semi-final stage onwards.
All Carabao Cup matches are being shown live on Sky Sports in the UK this season, while selected fixtures will be available to overseas supporters through the EFL’s international broadcast partners. Details regarding tickets for the quarter-final will be announced in due course.
