Crystal Palace’s goalless draw at Leeds United has been viewed as a positive result by contributors to the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, despite the hosts remaining unbeaten in the Premier League.
Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu was singled out for praise after the 0-0 draw. Jonny Buchan said the midfielder performed impressively in crowded areas, read the game well and made important interceptions, adding that he showed the authority expected of a captain.
Buchan also suggested Ampadu’s display underlined his quality among Premier League midfielders. The result left Leeds with two wins and three draws from their opening five league matches.
Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix, speaking on the same podcast, said Palace’s perspective on the match would likely be positive. He argued that taking a clean sheet and a point away from home, with the possibility of having won the game, represented a strong outcome for the Eagles.
Buchan added that a Palace-supporting colleague’s immediate reaction was satisfaction with the clean sheet. He said the point should be regarded as a valuable one for Leeds too, particularly against a Palace side he placed in the same broader mix of teams Leeds could find themselves competing alongside.
