Crystal Palace have arrived in Istanbul ahead of their Europa League meeting with Beşiktaş, setting up another significant European occasion for the South London club.

Pierre Sage’s side made the four-hour journey early on Wednesday before reaching Turkey. The trip represents Palace’s first competitive visit to the country since facing Samsunspor in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1998.

It is also the club’s first match in Turkey since friendlies against Trabzonspor and Napoli during the mid-season break of the 2022/23 campaign.

Later on Wednesday afternoon, Palace travelled to Beşiktaş Park, the 42,684-capacity stadium most recently reopened in 2016. The squad spent an hour training at the venue, giving the players an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the surroundings before the match.

Palace will be aiming to return to winning ways in Europe after last week’s narrow defeat in Lyon. They face the challenge of Beşiktaş’s renowned home atmosphere when the two sides meet in Istanbul.
