Crystal Palace’s early-season record has come under scrutiny ahead of their meeting with unbeaten Leeds United, with Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix describing the Eagles’ start as unimpressive.
Palace have scored six goals and conceded 11 in their opening matches. Their results so far include victories over Fulham and defeats by Ipswich Town and Everton, a record Rix believes Leeds can take encouragement from.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds have collected eight points from their first four Premier League games in 2026-27 and have conceded only three goals. Rix said Leeds are capable of scoring when opportunities arise while also remaining difficult to break down.
The Leeds supporter also urged caution over early talk of European qualification. He suggested the immediate priority should be creating a significant gap to the relegation places before assessing where the team can finish.
Defender James Justin has similarly identified 40 points as Leeds’ primary target during their second campaign since promotion from the Championship. The fixture against Palace comes before a three-week international break, giving both sides an important opportunity to strengthen their position before the pause.
