Crystal Palace Women head to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday with Jo Potter encouraged by the mood around her squad following their 1-0 opening-day victory over Everton.

The Palace manager said the team is in a positive position ahead of the trip, although one or two players remain doubts because of minor fitness concerns. Decisions on their availability are expected to be made as late as possible before the match.

Potter acknowledged the scale of the challenge awaiting her side against an Arsenal team with a strong record at the Emirates. She described the fixture as a significant occasion for her players and stressed the importance of remaining disciplined without possession, while also making the most of Palace’s opportunities when they regain the ball.

Bethany England was singled out for praise after an influential performance against Everton. The new No.9 impressed in attack and also made a crucial clearance off the line, with Potter highlighting her ability to contribute in both penalty areas and her value as a leader for Palace’s younger players.

Lexi Lloyd-Smith also made an immediate impression by scoring the winner on her Palace debut. Potter believes the 23-year-old has considerable potential and challenged her to build on that start by producing consistently throughout the season.

After Sunday’s trip to North London, Palace Women’s next home match will be against Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park on Sunday, 20 September. Tickets for the fixture remain available.
