Crystal Palace captain Dean Henderson has signed a new contract that will keep him at Selhurst Park until the summer of 2030. The England goalkeeper is set to become the highest-paid player in the club’s squad, highlighting his importance to the Eagles.

Henderson took over the captaincy from Marc Guehi in January and helped Palace recover from a difficult spell during the season. Under his leadership, the club went on to win the Conference League, beating Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in May.

The 29-year-old also played a central role in Palace’s FA Cup triumph, saving Omar Marmoush’s penalty during the victory over Manchester City. Since arriving from Manchester United in August 2023, Henderson has made 119 appearances for the club and kept 38 clean sheets. He has also won five senior England caps.

Henderson is currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained during pre-season. He played through the problem in Palace’s opening three matches but missed the squad for the 3-2 home defeat by Ipswich Town. The injury is expected to keep him out until after the international break, meaning he is likely to withdraw from consideration for Thomas Tuchel’s Nations League squad.

Palace expect Henderson to be available for the trip to Nottingham Forest on October 11. Jean-Philippe Mateta could also return for that fixture as he continues to deal with a hamstring problem.

Chairman Steve Parish welcomed the new agreement, praising Henderson’s goalkeeping ability and leadership. Henderson said he was pleased to extend his stay, describing his time at Palace as an amazing three years and insisting that his best football is still ahead of him.
