Episode Four of Crystal Palace’s When Eagles Dare documentary is now available to watch on the club’s official YouTube channel. Titled The Old Enemy, the latest instalment continues the series’ account of Palace’s journey from the financial crisis of 2010 to the 2013 Championship play-off final.
The episode focuses on a tense stage of the promotion campaign, with Palace’s place in the play-offs under threat and Bolton also in contention. The Eagles then face Brighton in the semi-final, having been held to a goalless draw in the first leg at Selhurst Park and having suffered the loss of star striker Glenn Murray.
That leaves Palace needing a result at the Amex, where the prize is a place in the Championship play-off final. The episode also captures the intensity of the occasion, with Ian Holloway — referred to as Ollie in the programme — shown in an especially furious mood.
Made in-house by Palace TV and originally released on Amazon Prime Video, When Eagles Dare combines interviews with figures including chairman Steve Parish, Dougie Freedman, Holloway, Wilfried Zaha, Damien Delaney, Yannick Bolasie, Jonny Williams and Mile Jedinak. It also features previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage from one of the most significant periods in the club’s history.
New episodes are being released at 6pm each day through Friday, 2 October. The five-part series covers the fight to save Palace, the creation of the CPFC 2010 consortium, Freedman’s team and Holloway’s promotion-winning side before reaching the memorable Wembley final.
