Crystal Palace supporters offered sharply contrasting reactions after Saturday’s 3-2 Premier League defeat by Ipswich Town, with defensive weaknesses and the impact of the sending-off dominating much of the discussion.

Jason felt Palace had made a strong start and looked better than they had earlier in the season, but believed the red card resulted from an unnecessary challenge in a dangerous area. He also criticised the defending that followed, saying Ipswich were allowed too much space in the box. Palace’s response with 10 men and Jorgen Strand Larsen’s goal were positives, although Jason argued that the team must improve defensively.

Other supporters were far less optimistic. Les described the display as another poor performance, while acknowledging that several late arrivals had been expected to settle quickly despite not yet knowing their team-mates. He called on Sage to resolve the problems soon, warning that relegation could become a concern.

Jezza directed his frustration towards both the club’s recruitment decisions and chairman Parish, while also criticising an unnamed player referred to as a Chelsea reject. Sean similarly pointed to a lack of cohesion and understanding in defence, adding that Sage’s public criticism of certain players was beginning to appear unprofessional.

Goalkeeping was another major concern for Chris, who said Palace were conceding too many straightforward goals. He also criticised Scherpen’s early wayward clearance and argued that the goalkeeper was not performing at the required Premier League level.

Ipswich supporters, meanwhile, were encouraged by the result. Roddy felt his side had controlled important periods and created enough chances to have settled the match earlier, while Jamie celebrated the late winner and expressed confidence that Ipswich can avoid relegation despite being written off by many.
