Crystal Palace have emerged as the early runners-up in the Europa League standings after the first round of matches, with Juventus occupying top spot.
The opening matchday produced mixed results for the French clubs involved. Lyon began with a victory away at Anderlecht, while Rennes secured a draw at Sturm Graz.
Marseille endured the toughest evening of the French sides, suffering a heavy defeat at Besiktas. Those results form part of an opening round in which Juventus moved into first place, just ahead of Crystal Palace.
