Crystal Palace made a memorable start to their Europa League campaign by beating Lech Poznan 4-0 in south London. The victory gives the Eagles their first win in the competition and places them second in the 36-team league table after matchday one.

Palace took control inside the opening 10 minutes when Yeremy Pino opened the scoring. Chris Richards then added a second 17 minutes later, giving the hosts a strong advantage before the interval.

Jorgen Strand Larsen continued his good form while deputising for Jean-Philippe Mateta, scoring Palace’s third before half-time. Eddie Nketiah completed the rout in the final minute of normal time to round off an important European result.

Lech Poznan finished the match with 10 men after Radoslaw Murawski received a second yellow card for two fouls. Palace’s result leaves them behind only Juventus in the early standings, with Bournemouth 10th and Sunderland 16th after their opening victories.
