Crystal Palace came away from Elland Road with a point after holding Leeds United to a 0-0 draw, denying the hosts a repeat of their impressive attacking display against Newcastle United earlier in the week.
Leeds had beaten Newcastle 4-1 under the floodlights, but they struggled to create the same impact against the Eagles on Sunday afternoon. Despite putting in plenty of effort, the home side could not produce the decisive moments required to find a way through Palace.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke accepted that his team lacked sharpness in the final third. He said the performance was scruffy in several areas and that his players did not make the right decisions quickly enough when they had possession in attacking positions.
Farke also acknowledged that greater intensity alone would not have been enough to guarantee victory. In his view, Leeds needed to combine their work rate with more quality, but they were unable to produce the spark required to break the deadlock against Palace.
The result means Leeds head into the international break with their unbeaten league run still intact, although Farke admitted his players were disappointed after missing the opportunity to move up to third place. Leeds will return to action on October 10 with a visit to reigning Premier League champions Arsenal.
