Crystal Palace had to settle for a 0-0 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road, despite creating enough opportunities to feel they could have taken all three points.
Palace made the brighter start, with Quinten Timber sending a 25-yard effort over the crossbar inside the opening six minutes. James Trafford then denied Daichi Kamada, while Nico Elvedi intervened to prevent another Timber effort from finding the net.
The visitors increased the pressure after the interval. Trafford kept out Yeremy Pino’s 20-yard free-kick before Kamada sent another attempt narrowly wide. Mitchell appeared to put Palace ahead with a half-volley, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review found Anan Khalaili offside on the right.
Leeds had a chance to break the deadlock when James Justin delivered for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Walter Benitez saved the striker’s right-footed effort. Palace came close again late on when Chris Richards picked out Kamada at the back post, although the Japan international could not direct his header inside the corner.
Palace finished with 12 shots, including four on target, and an expected goals figure of 0.74, while Leeds registered 13 attempts but only two efforts on target. The result leaves Leeds unbeaten through their opening five Premier League matches, while Palace secured only their second away league clean sheet in their last 15 such games.
The point extended Palace’s difficult league run in 2025, with only Tottenham collecting fewer points among the teams to have appeared in every Premier League campaign during the calendar year. Pierre Sage’s side will therefore need results to improve quickly after the international break, despite opening their Europa League campaign with a win on Thursday.
