Crystal Palace were held to a 0-0 draw by Leeds United at Elland Road, with the hosts fortunate to preserve their unbeaten Premier League start after Tyrick Mitchell had a second-half goal ruled out following a VAR review.

Palace created the clearer openings during the early stages. Quinten Timber sent a 25-yard effort over the bar inside the opening six minutes, while James Trafford then denied Daichi Kamada. Nico Elvedi also had to intervene to prevent another Timber attempt from finding the net.

Palace continued to press after the interval, with Trafford parrying Yeremy Pino's 20-yard free-kick before Kamada's effort went narrowly wide. Mitchell appeared to have put Palace ahead with a half-volley, but the goal was disallowed for offside against Anan Khalaili, who had moved beyond the last defender on the right.

Leeds came close to breaking the deadlock when Dominic Calvert-Lewin's shot was stopped by Walter Benitez after James Justin's delivery. Palace had another late opportunity when Chris Richards produced an excellent ball to the back post, but Kamada could not direct his glancing header into the bottom corner.

Palace finished with 12 shots, four on target and an expected goals figure of 0.74, compared with Leeds' 13 attempts, two on target and 1.36 xG. The point did at least bring a second clean sheet in Palace's last 15 away Premier League matches, following a run in which they had conceded two or more goals in seven of their previous eight league games on the road.

The result came after Palace's Europa League opening win on Thursday, but their league form remains a concern. Among the teams to have played in every Premier League match this calendar year, only Tottenham have collected fewer points than Palace's 23, including the period under former manager Oliver Glasner.
